The Secret Footballer had been writing a weekly article in the Guardian newspaper since the beginning of 2011.

The player gives an insight from inside the game, ‘lifting the lid on the world of football’. The anonymity of the player has obviously led to lots of intrigue around football forums as well as in comments on the articles on the Guardian website.

His column now features on his own website alongside columns from people from other professions whose identities are also kept secret.
