On 23rd June TSF tweeted, “First run today, almost died but never EVER be the one that stops running first!!“, implying that he was with team members on first day of pre-season. 23rd of June is indeed very early to return to pre-season, though not for Fulham whose first match of the season was just a week later on the 30th June.
This forum post also indicates they went back a week before their first game.
Thanks to Craig for spotting the tweet.
One response to “Early pre-season”
For the record, the players that were singled out for the man-marking treatment in those two matches were Wayne Rooney and, perhaps most bizarrely of all, Claude Makelele, for whom we used an advanced midfielder.
From his guardian column. This is certainly a Fulham tactic. Steed Malbranque was the advanced midfield set to mark Chelsea’s holding midfielder in a number of matches.
