Has a picture of Glen Johnson’s wife and daughter
And wasn’t Glen Johnson at Chelsea with Makelele and Gallas?
It’s definitely Johnson.
All the obvious ones aside – e.g. he’s English etc., the below are important:
-19: He’s played with both Paolo Di Canio and Paulo Ferreira, both known to go down easy, and the spelling may of either just been a typo or slip of memory.
-11: Harry Redknapp – played for him at West Ham and Pompey, probably rates him as he oversaw a lot of his career.
-10: Friends at Liverpool? I’d like to think he’s made a few.
-8&9: are the biggies. Played a long time with a manager before losing it? He left Chelsea one week before Mourinho did. Mourinho famously lost the dressing room, and Johnson probably was pissed off he was seen as surplus to requirements at Chelsea, and left. ‘Turns out he was not the messiah’ etc. Everyone knows how much praise Mourinho got during his Chelsea years, failure must have been a surprise to all concerned.
7: Striker not running for the ball? Kanu, however good he was, didn’t do too much chasing.
8: French players: At Chelsea; Diarra, Makelele.
Well that’s what I think anyway.
Now, someone point out something really obvious that I’ve missed and we can rule Glen out!
Johnson played in West Ham’s final day 2003 draw with Birmingham that resulted in West Ham’s relegation.
Some (possibly) revealing quotes from an earlier Guardian article:
‘”Joe Jordan [formerly the assistant manager] made a DVD once of some of my best bits,” he recalls. “He said, ‘Just watch this – watch how good you really are’
“Harry (Redknapp) was my biggest mentor in football so it was a massive shock when he left.”

I also found this on thefreelibrary.com. don’t know how accurate it is, but it would appear to suggest that if he did have a father figure it was more likely to have been joe hordan or Hppy Harry than his real dad.
“THE long-lost dad of new England New England star, Glen Johnson
last night begged him to get in touch…after he recognised him playing in a TV match.
John Stephens had not seen 19-year-old Glen for 10 years, and didn’t even know he was a footballer.
“I recognised Glen right away from the photographs that I kept of him,” said John, 45. “Words can’t begin to describe how I felt when I saw him playing. I was literally shaking all over with excitement that my boy had made it as a footballer….”
As it says above ;)
If I’ve done my sums right, Johnson would have been 14 when Ibra was 17 – making it unlikely (albeit not impossible) that he would have been recommended him to scouts at his club.
Also, based on his Twitter/Merson comments, he doesn’t seem the cerebral, slightly lefty type that is penning these articles.
If he was only 14, it could be why the club in question never made a move for him. I mean, who’d take the recommendation of a 14 year old kid suggesting some 17 year old Scandanavian?
Glen Johnson also had a pretty impressive debut season, 15 appearances, which fits with a previous statement made by TSF.
