Has he ever played at a club with a large number of French players? Don’t think so?
I guess Chelsea had Makelele, Gallas and Malouda (think they all would have played together around 2007/8). Plus, the African French speakers. But it isn’t him, surely?
Makalele, Desailly, Gallas and Petit were all at Chelsea while Cole was: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003%E2%80%9304_Chelsea_F.C._season
#10? why would he be talking about a friend who plays for liverpool, when he plays for liverpool himself?
@Paddy — I imagine, no matter who the Secret Footballer is, he’ll talk about every club as if he doesn’t play there — even if he does. We’ve all told those stories, “So, this friend of mine crapped his pants in public…”, when it was really you.
On that basis, I would discount #10 as a useful piece of info.
Definitely not Joe. He’s thick as s**t. TSF – even if he’s ghost-written (which he’s not supposed to be) is obviously intelligent
20. Someone who’s got a chat about ‘another season’ coming up
Which article is this clue from? Was it definitely contract related? Cos ‘another season’ could just mean Liverpool want to sell him.
It’s from one of his tweets
He has been a pundit several times when he was out injured, usually on England matches for ITV
What Robert R said, can’t be him, he is thick as shit.
I watched an interview once where Joe said people used to think that he was the “messiah” growing up through the ranks at West Ham. Harry Redknapp clearly isn’t a “Messiah”, but it’s a coincidence as it’s similar to the language he used! (longshot)

Played abroad – reflecting on his time at Lille in the new one? He didn’t buy an apartment or house, because he was on a short term move.
Lille didn’t win eight straight, but they came pretty close towards the end of the season, won nine out of their last eleven.
Brazillian Tulio de Melo was there, but I’m not seeing any Hungarians, Germans, Dutch or Macedonians (there is a Montenegran) in the squad.
Not Joe Cole, he was a product of the West Ham Youth system and didn’t come up through the leagues and make a big money move to the premiership.
With the secret footballer disclosing that he played abroad it really does narrow down our search. But having crossed referenced all the clues I am struggling.
The only answers are that he is unreliable with many a red herring or it is more than one player working with a journalist.
